Classes are a way to organize the students in your schools in order to assign students to proctor groups within an Administration. As long as classes have been defined and each student is enrolled in a class, ADAM maintains the rosters for the administrations.
Classes are not created by the state, so one of the first steps for DACs and SACs is to create classes and enroll students into those classes.
- NOTE: If a current student is transferring from one class to another, they need to be removed from one class and enrolled into the new class.
There are three ways to add classes and enroll students in ADAM. The first and primary method is Quick Class Upload which is covered in detail in the ADAM Platform User Guide.
- All students should be enrolled in a class.
- Once one enrolls their students in classes through the CSV upload process, then use a manual process to modify class enrollments.
- If a new student is introduced to your school, they need to be enrolled in a class.
- This process is most likely used by the School Administrator if a new class is identified after the Quick Class Upload is completed.
- To prepare for enrolling students, you need to know two (2) pieces of information for each student you plan to enroll in a class.
- The student name, and
- The class into which they are being enrolled.
- Navigate in ADAM to Rostering | Classes
- Search for the class you are enrolling the student into by typing in the name of the class.
- e.g., ‘Mrs. Cline’
- The keyword search function searches on the Class Title field.
- Select the edit button (in the Actions column, an icon shaped like a square with a pencil on top.)
- Scroll to the bottom of the Class Setup page to see the enrolled students.
- Click the plus symbol to the right of the Students header to add the new student.
- Type the first and/or last name of the student into the ‘Search students...’ box.
- If there is more than one student with the same name, you may also need to verify the Identifier or SourcedID (SSID).
- If you see a checkmark instead of a plus sign, that indicates that the student is already enrolled in a class.
- Click the plus symbol to add the student.
- Click the "Done" button.
- Click the "Submit" button to complete the student addition. **IF YOU DON’T CLICK SUBMIT, THE STUDENT WILL NOT BE SAVED TO THE CLASS**
