Classes are a way to organize the students in your schools in order to assign students to proctor groups within an Administration. As long as classes have been defined and each student is enrolled in a class, ADAM maintains the rosters for the administrations (assessment sessions).
Classes are not created by the state, so one of the first steps for DACs and SACs is to create classes and enroll students into those classes.
There are three ways to add classes and enroll students in ADAM. The first and primary method is Quick Class Upload which is covered in detail in the ADAM Platform User Guide.
As an alternative to using a CSV file upload (either Quick Class Upload (FAQ, video) or OneRoster CSV), creating a new class one class at a time is an option. This option uses the ADAM application to create the new class.
- This process is most likely used by the School Administrator if a new class is identified after the Quick Class Upload is completed.
- Navigate in ADAM to Rostering | Classes and use the ‘Create New’ button to add a single class.
- Complete the Class Setup form:
- Title – The unique name of the class. Note: the title will be used as the default Proctor Group name.
- Class Code – The unique class code for classes in your school.
- Location – Not required
- Class Type – Not required
- School – Choose the school that offers the class from the dropdown list.
- Course – Choose from one of the courses in the dropdown list.
- Academic Session - Choose the school year from the drop-down list
- Source ID - A unique code for classes across all districts and schools.
- Subject(s) - Not required
- Grade(s) - Not required
- Period(s) - Not required
- Teacher - Select the + button and to add a teacher
- Students - Select the + button and to add a student/students
- Click the "Submit" button to save the class.
If you are moving students from an existing class into this new class...you will first need to remove the student from their original class, then add them to this new class.
